Sanderson House is a modern, state-of-the-art boarding house specially designed to be home for girls in Years 9, 10 and 11 (ages 13 - 16).
The bright, airy rooms sleep three or four girls and are complemented by a large common room with a quiet room and a nearby kitchen, along with two kitchenettes. Additional social areas on each floor have floor-to-ceiling windows giving spectacular views across Bristol. There is underfloor heating throughout, board games, a Nintendo Switch, Wii, art and craft supplies, and a very popular table football table.
The laundry room is also available for those who wish to do their own washing.
In Sanderson, the girls leave their rooms in the morning and don’t come back until the end of the day. In the evenings girls have access to many facilities in the school including the sports centre and music rooms.
The girls living in Sanderson are split vertically into two Houses (Berkeley and Lynmouth) so that girls can forge friendships across year groups. The welfare, happiness and safety of the girls is paramount. Each House is supported by a Housemistress, Deputy Housemistress and two Graduate Boarding Assistants.
All staff live on site and are experienced in supporting teenagers through these formative years. Sanderson offers a homely atmosphere where boarders can be themselves and enjoy growing up.
At weekends, boarders are allowed to venture off campus in groups during designated times, giving them a healthy balance of independence and structure.
Weekend activities are chosen by the pupils themselves and have recently included day trips to London, visiting the Bath Christmas Markets, Wake The Tiger Amazement Park, boat trips on Bristol Harbourside, board game cafes, bowling and Bristol Bears rugby matches.
Exeat weekends are optional, giving boarders the opportunity to stay in the house or return home or to their guardian.
