Badminton offers a number of scholarships each year which carry remission on fees and are available and awarded to girls with unique strengths. They are assessed separately and awarded on merit. Scholarships are available at 11+ (Year 7), 13+ (Year 9) and Sixth Form. Occasionally the Head or the Head of the Prep School may offer a Head’s Award to reward excellence in one element of the assessment (including interview).
Unless otherwise indicated, it is usual for only one award to be made in each category. Conversely, the school is not obliged to make all of the advertised awards in every year.
It is expected that scholarships will be tenable throughout the holder’s school career. Scholarships, awards and exhibitions are regularly reviewed by the Head, who will satisfy herself regarding the pupil’s diligence, progress, attitude and good conduct. Scholars will be expected to play a full and willing part in the life of the school, make a significant and noticeable contribution to the School's community and act as a role model for other pupils.
A current girl who is already the holder of a scholarship, award or exhibition from Badminton School may apply for a different one at a later stage; if she were awarded both then she would need to decide which would be an honorary title (e.g. gain benefit and status but not financial value of both).
It is open to parents to renounce the emoluments of any award. Their daughter will retain the full status of a scholar and the funds released will be transferred to the School’s bursary funds to provide financial support for those who require financial assistance.
Further information is available from our admissions team and in our Scholarships & Awards Booklet.
Badminton offers a number of means-tested Bursaries for UK based external candidates for entry to the Senior School each year. Priority for Bursary support is given to those who also perform well in the academic entrance assessments (typically ranking in the top 25% of the cohort). A Bursary can be applied for as well as a Scholarship, or separately. You can request a Bursary Application Form by emailing [email protected].
As funds are limited, you are encouraged to apply for any bursary support ahead of entrance assessments.
If you have missed the deadline, please contact our Admissions Team: [email protected].
