Mrs Tear's Thoughts of the Week

It has been a really inspiring and emotional week as the marquee has enabled several key events in our traditional calendar to continue and allowed us to share some inspiring community moments. Last weekend the Leavers’ Supper followed by the more formal morning ceremony enabled us to reflect, with very mixed emotions, on all that the strong and creative Upper Sixth achieved at (and for) Badminton and, hopefully, gave them some cherished memories to take on their journey.

This week music and happy chatter has streamed across the lawns from Musical Cream Teas, the Acorns Fiesta and, of course, Fairy Lites; seeing the Creative Arts in action and the young people in our community showcasing their skills and testing their confidence once again has been a real delight for all.

These are opportunities that, despite best virtual efforts, we cannot fully recreate online and the fact that so many got back in their stride and took up the challenge has been as impressive as the great standard of their performance. It has also been brilliant to have the space and opportunity for some vital community feedback in the sharing of news and views of the Officers and Ambassadors at the annual ‘Thank You Barbecue’; their words and views have, as ever, given us more things to review and adapt for next year!

I am looking forward to seeing the showcase of work at Celebrating Badminton Day and I am sorry that we cannot invite everyone onto campus to see for themselves. However, I hope you enjoy seeing the live streamed speeches and reading the newsletter of the day with some of the highlights, which will be sent later, on Saturday. The full gallery of work will be shared as Term ends on Wednesday (there will be a lot of editing to do on Monday and Tuesday!).

Meanwhile, to fully introduce our new Chair of Governors before his speech on Saturday, I hope you enjoy listening to this short recording that we made by clicking here.
