During the second lockdown, our Chinese Scholar Mary, Year 11, successfully built her confidence to participate Modern Foreign Language competitions.
Mary recently won Second Place Runner-Up in the GCSE category in the Modern Languages in Schools Prize competition hosted by the Lancaster University!
Dr Witter from the Department of Languages and Cultures congratulated her and said: “It is important to emphasise that our judges were extremely impressed by the quality of this year’s entries. All the judges commented on how much they enjoyed reading the A Level students’ essays and watching the GCSE level students’ video presentations. It was exciting and inspiring to see such a passion and ability for language learning, and we hope that these students will continue to study languages and cultures at a higher education level.”
