Mojitos y Musica

Mimi and I were delighted to be able to sing at the annual Spanish event – ‘Mojitos y Música’. We sang the famous ‘Shake it Off’ by Taylor Swift but in Spanish (‘Muévete’) and our Spanish class also sang ‘Siesta’ by Lewis Ofman.

We were relieved when we learnt that the event could still go ahead this year since it was cancelled last year due to COVID-19. It was really fun and a great way to celebrate the end of our Year 10 examinations.

We enjoyed learning and performing the songs, as well as eating yummy Spanish food such as churros, tapas and drinking non-alcoholic mojitos. Mimi and I particularly liked the churros – they were very sweet and crispy!

Mimi was also able to sell some zodiac jewellery, made by her Business Tycoon competition company “Estrella”. She attracted customers and sold her products speaking in Spanish, which was wonderful to see!

I especially loved watching the younger years sing songs in Spanish such as ‘Sofía’, ‘Vivir mi Vida’ and ‘Juntos’ as it was nostalgic considering we had learnt some of those songs in previous Spanish lessons.

It was a lovely afternoon of singing, dancing the Macarena (because what Spanish event would be complete without it!), and eating lots of Spanish treats! We hope to participate in the ‘fiesta’ again soon!
